Potentiometers are used to control volume and tone. A potentiometer is a three-terminal resistor with a sliding or rotating contact that forms an adjustable voltage divider. Check out our Tech Corder articles on pots, including Potentiometer Types. Add a switch to your guitar using the existing holes in your pick guard or body.
These Split-shaft pots are compatible with spline, fine knurled knobs and feature a precise audio taper. Hex nuts, flat washer, and lock washer are included with each pot. Great in guitars that have a thicker carved top ex.

Sized to fit more guitars. On these top quality CTS control pots, the switch contacts are on the side, not the back. This makes them shorter, so they'll fit most guitars without routing—only 1" cavity depth is needed. The double-pole double-throw switch adds lots of wiring options.
CTS pots have long been the first choice in American guitars. CTS worked with StewMac to create these unique control pots. Their precision audio taper gives smoother, more accurate response than you'll get with economy pots. The volume swells evenly from 0 to 10, with no abrupt changes. Available with split shaft for fine-knurled spline knob, or with smooth shaft to fit a set-screw knob. Each CTS pot includes a flat washer, lock washer, and two hex mounting nuts for custom height adjustment on a pickguard or control plate.
Lots of low-cost guitars play great, even though the manufacturers cut costs on hardware and electronics.
Swapping out your control pots is an easy mod with big results. Erick Coleman shows you how to avoid trouble…. Then the pot is useless unless you take it apart and do microsurgery soldering to fix the trace. Those strips should not break when you bend the soldering lugs.
I have a drawer full of dead new cts pots that are brand new otherwise. That's why I buy them 2 at a time. If I knew I would have to reorder them so many times due to breakage, I would have gladly paid the I must have spent You really should tell CTS about this problem. Unreinforced circuit board material does not cut it. They should be fiberglas or something that doesn't just snap when you bend the tab. I hope this helps someone. I think you guys owe me one.
Or 8 Thanks, Roger Lyness. I'm sure these are excellent, so I'm giving them 5 stars. However, they did not fit through the f-hole on my Epiphone ES Pro. What can I say?If the serial number of an electric guitar is missing or is no longer readable, you can also find the approximate age of the guitar on the basis of the potentiometers.
On the potentiometer is a code that gives information about the manufacturer and the year and week when it is made. EIA code. Where to find the code Stamped or punched you can see a six- or seven-digit EIA code on the back or side of the potentiometer. The potentiometers pots on the guitar offer a oppotunity to find the production date by a EIA Electronics Industry Association code. Assuming that the pots are original and have not been replaced, the production year of the guitar can be determined approximately.
The EIA code on pots indicates the manufacturer and date when they are made. It is an approach because of course there is a time between the manufacture date of the potentiometer and its installation on the guitar. Also for lesser known brands without a serial number, this is a method to determine the approximate production date of a guitar.
Often the EIA code cannot be read by the solder on the potentiometer. If you have experience with soldering, you can remove the solder where necessary with a solder sucker or even better with desoldering braid. If you have no experience or confidence, have someone do it for you.

He being a native to Iceland made the experience even more authentic. The group size was perfect, enabling the guide to personalize the tour even more. Thanks to Cecelia for all your answers ahead of time and for working out the details. The trip was wonderful and the adventure of a lifetime for our age. My husband, fifteen year old son and I just returned from the 10-day Iceland Full Circel self-drive tour. Iceland is beautiful and unspoiled.
The topography is someting we have never seen -- from mountains and glaciers to lava and geysirs and boiling mud pits -- every day we saw somethine unique and amazing.
We cannot say enough about Larus and the travel arrangements and information provided by Nordic Visitor. From the initial contact to departure Larus was professional, prompt and helpful.
We had one small glitch with the GPS from the rental car company on the way out of Reykjavik.
I called Larus and within 20 minutes we had a new one and were on our way. While we never had another issue, we knew if we did, it would be solved quickly and easily. The information provided -- a road map with our suggested driving route, hotels and points-of-interest highlighted was invaluable.Classic tibia bot
The guide book with suggested stops and information about every stop was excellent. We chose the "mid-range" accomodations -- they were all lovely and unique. The amount of driving each day perfectly matched what sights were in the area. We never felt rushed to get to the next stop and never felt like we had too much time. I am a planner and I could not have planned a better trip.
We had the freedom of a self-drive, but the support and coordination of someone who knew the country. As someone who has been to Iceland many, many time (mainly for work) it is great to see how a local firm can be so much better than booking anything else. Usually I do self booking for everything, however I was finding great difficulty putting together a trip where all the hotels have availability for the dates we wanted.
My wife found Nordic Visitor and we contacted them. The request was something along the lines of "we want the full circle, however we want to do it in reverse, and we want to specifically at this hotel, etc.Orange vector
Within 10 days they (Alexandra) had managed to do everything we wanted and the price was very reasonable (Iceland has never been cheap, but it more affordable now than it was 20 years ago when I first started going there). Everything from the initial pick up at the airport, through to hire car, hotel bookings, literally everything ran smoothly without any problems whatsoever. During the planning stages, Kolbrun was extremely helpful, answering all of our questions by email quickly and fully.
The fjord region is absolutely beautiful and I think it important to actually drive the region to really appreciate it.
Again, we always knew that Kolbrun was there to help us if we needed it and we thank you for her services.
